Serpentina

Serpentina

Serpentina is the local name given to the footpath which zig-zags to the summit of Mount Srd, Dubrovnik. The 1991 war with Serbia destroyed the buildings on the summit, the 19th Century fort and the cable car station. The path is used each year on a pilgrimage by the mothers of those killed in the war, walking barefoot and stopping to pray at each of the thirteen crosses situated at the corners along the way.
