56°01’,ON 4°46’,OW is the location of the seascape in the images and is based on the the artists fear of drowning, a theme which has recurred in his work over many years. This is based on the artists’ grandfather who drowned in a whirlpool in a river in the early 1940’s.

This lightbox work incorporates 12 individual transparencies sandwiched between sheets of 2mm glass to give the effect of depth and disorientation within the illuminated work.

This work was destroyed along with many others in the fire at Glasgow School of Art in 2014.
